Your Brake Fluid Is What Brings Your Vehicle to a Stop

Most of us understand what our braking system does but many of us don't truly understand how it works or that it is all powered by a fluid.

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that is similar to, but different than an oil. You can find it in a reservoir under the hood of your car, truck, or SUV. The brake fluid is sent through the system to the calipers when the master cylinder forces it through the lines. That transfer of force creates pressure on the calipers, which is what makes the compress. That causes the brake pads to contact the rotors which is what slows your vehicle to a stop.

If you have any more questions about brake fluid or your brake system in general then feel free to ask one of our experts here at Blue Springs Ford in Blue Springs Ford, MO. We are always happy to help our customers any way we can.
