How to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Kansas City

Kansas City’s Irish roots date back to the mid-1800s when settlers brought their culture and customs to the area. Since then, Irish traditions have helped shape the city into what it is today. In honor of the Irish, here’s how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Kansas City.

Visit an Irish Bar

All of us here at Blue Springs Ford are fans of Irish bars, and Kansas City has quite a few to set the St. Patrick’s Day mood. Ever since it opened back in 1947, Kelly’s Westport Inn has been one of the most iconic Irish bars in the city. Like its name implies, The Dubliner is a Dublin-style tavern that features Irish performers. Paddy O’Quigley’s, located in Leawood, is another great option if you prefer to venture outside of Kansas City.

Go For a Run

Westport hosts an annual four-mile run that sees a full crowd of participants every year. After the run, many choose to patron a local Irish restaurant. Younger runners can take part in the Little Shamrock Run which spans approximately three blocks through the neighborhood.

Attend a Parade

When all else fails, attending a St. Patrick’s Day parade is the way to go. There are parades held throughout the streets of Blue Springs, Leavenworth, Lawrence, and Westport.

Don your green apparel and gather some friends to attend any of these festive happenings this holiday. Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us here at Blue Springs Ford!
